Street Drugs: Chemicals that Destroy Minds and Lives

This course will cover the essential information that every educator must have as it relates to the serious problem of drug abuse among children and adolescents. Participants will increase their knowledge of the most common forms of illicit and licit drugs of abuse including hallucinogens, psycho-stimulants, over the counter medications, narcotics such as heroin, and oxycontin, and more. This workshop consisting of 30 hours of classroom lectures, discussion boards, articles, films and quizzes is designed to increase educators' knowledge and awareness of the commonly used drugs of abuse. Thinking, Feeling and Doing: Teaching Emotion Regulation Skills in the Classroom (online)

This workshop will equip teachers with the skills they need to provide children with essential thinking strategies designed to help with emotion regulation. Behavioral acting out which includes violence, bullying, poor peer relationships and academic under-achievement is highly correlated with the lack of emotion regulation skills.
